Bill Gosstray

Bill was born in Clifton Hill in 1931. He attended school at Collingwood Tech and played both cricket and baseball with Collingwood. He is a life member of both the Collingwood and Preston baseball clubs. Bill was a councillor with the City of Preston 1985-1991 and was Mayor 1990-1991. He joined Inner FM during our second test broadcast in 1988 and helped facilitate finance from the City of Preston for the opening of the station. Bill's fundraising for the station has continued in recent years through the Top Hat Annual BBQ.

Bill previously served on the Inner FM committee for 7 years and has presented the popular programs "Personalities on Parade", "Sports Roundup", "Mainly Trad" (for 10 years) and "Top Hat, White Tie & Tails" (for 21 years). Bill has interviewed many famous people on his Inner FM programs, including Judith Durham (Seekers), Bill Lawry (former test cricket captain) and Barry Vagg (former Melbourne football star).

Bill retired from "Top Hat, White Tie & Tails" after about 1100 shows, including 905 with Jack Trask prior to Jack's sad passing in February 2009. The show won many awards over the years, including Best Nostalgia Program 1994-1996 and the Gold Award for the most popular program 1995-1996.
