Congratulations to the Victorian Government Food and Fibre Exports, achieving a consistent positive growth ~ a staggering Total Export trade of $11.9b to the World. 

 

 

2013-2014

Victorian food and fibre exports to MENA grew by 14 per cent in 2013–14.

    Exports to Egypt also performed well, increasing by 63 per cent from 2012–13 to achieve $149 million.

    Over the last five years, total food and fibre exports from Victoria to Egypt have shown steady growth.

Q1] Firstly, Let’s talk about the success that Victoria had in Exporting to Egypt back in 2013-2014,

      Victoria exported $1.05 Billion of Cereals [ Wheat, Maize, …. ] in 2013-14, $532 Million in 2015-16

      and now Egypt is not tabled 2015-16 ?

 

Australia exported $8.56 Billion of Cereal [ Wheat, Maze,….] in 2013-14, $7.21 Billion in 2015-16 [ 65% Australian Grain  ]

                           $902 Million of Pulses [ Faba Beans, …..] in 2013-14, $1.69 Billion in 2015-16 [ 15% Australian Grain ]

Q2] Pulses [ Faba Beans ] is showing great results, why ?

Pulse Australia, is the most important single desk that represents, Faba beans [ Fuul ], Chickpeas, Lentils, Lupins growers, traders, science researchers, exporters and agronomists in Australia.

 

Faba Beans [ Fuul ], a relative of broad beans, is now growing in all Australian states, very successfully,

            even beating France & UK in exporting them to Egypt

Egypt is the world’s largest importer of Faba Beans [ Fuul ],

            Annual requirement of 480,000 ~ 520,000 tonnes 31/Jul 2014

            Australia exports 70% of it’s total Faba Beans market to Egypt                                        

 
Australia’s home grown Faba beans [ Fuul ], Chickpeas & Lentils, Lupins are shipped to Egypt in very large quantities

            United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, declared this year 2016, the international year of pulses

             Tonight we’re celebrating this great & growing trade between Australia & Egypt with Mr Nick Goddard from Pulse Australia.

2011 Export to Egypt [ $115 million of Vegetables, Fuul Beans = Fava beans, Wheat, Lentils, Canola, Chickpeas, Carrots

2012 Export to Egypt [ $103 million of Vegetables

2013 Export to Egypt [ $111 million of Vegetables

2014 Export to Egypt [ $136 million of Vegetables

Faba beans planting area has doubled in five years,           2015 – 2016  faba beans = 330,000 tonnes

The long term average $value for Faba beans         ~ $300/tonne [ 2014 ]

                                                                                      ~ $400/tonne

                                                                                      ~ $600/tonne [2016 ] 300,000 tonne x $600/tonne ~ =$180 million of just Fuul beans

 

UN food and Agriculture Organization demand 500,000 tonnes for Faba Beans, Australia is providing ~ 70% world’s requirements
