MUSICAL THEATRE MELODIES - 13th December - "Candide"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 13th December at 9 p.m. will feature a 60th Anniversary tribute to Leonard Bernstein, Richard Wilbur, John LaTouche and Dorothy Parker's Candide, (a comic operetta based on Voltaire's satire), from the 1956 original Broadway cast recording starring Robert Rounseville, Barbara Cook, Max Adrian, William Olvis, Boris Aplon, William Chapman and Irra Petina.

This will be preceded by an introduction to the show (via Skype) from New York-based theatre critic and Internet columnist - Peter Filichia.

The remainder of the broadcast will feature additional songs written for subsequent revivals of Candide, from the 1989 London studio cast recording conducted by Leonard Bernstein featuring Jerry Hadley, June Anderson, Christa Ludwig, Kurt Ollman and Adolph Green.
