MUSICAL THEATRE MELODIES - 15th November - "Li'l Abner"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 15th November at 9 p.m. will feature a 60th Anniversary tribute to Gene de Paul and Johnny Mercer's Li'l Abner, (based on the cartoon characters created by Al Capp ), from the 1956 original Broadway cast recording starring Peter Palmer, Edith Adams, Stubby Kaye, Charlotte Rae and Howard St. John, with Joe E. Marks and Stanley Simmonds; plus an additional song from the 1959 Paramount film soundtrack with Peter Palmer and Leslie Parrish.

This will be preceded by an introduction to the musical (via Skype) from New York-based theatre critic and Internet columnist - Peter Filichia.

The remainder of the broadcast will feature highlights from Gene de Paul and Johnny Mercer's score for the 1954 MGM film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, from the soundtrack recording starring Howard Keel and Jane Powell.
