Musical Theatre Melodies - 16th June - "Rex" introduced by Sheldon Harnick

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 16th June at 9 p.m. will feature Richard Rodgers and Sheldon Harnick's Rex, (based on the history of King Henry VIII of England), from the 1976 original Broadway cast recording starring Nicol Williamson and Penny Fuller, with Barbara Andres, Glenn Close, Martha Danielle, Ed Evanko, Merwin Goldsmith, William Griffis, Michael John, Stephen D. Newman and Tom Aldredge.

This will be preceded by an interview, (via telephone from New York), with the 91 years-young Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning lyricist and songwriter - Sheldon Harnick.

And will be followed by demo recordings of songs "cut" from the score of Rex performed by Sheldon Harnick; plus a selection of demo recordings of songs from the scores of the Harnick musicals Dragons, A Song For a King (music by Michel Legrand), A Christmas Carol (music by Legrand), Wonderful Life (music by Joe Raposo) and Malpractice Makes Perfect, introduced (and performed) by Sheldon with William Tost, Margery Gray, Michel Legrand, Leigh Beery, Joe Raposo and Brian D'Arcy James, (from the CD album "Sheldon Harnick - Hidden Treasures, 1949 - 2013".)
