Musical Theatre Melodies - 19th April - "The Bing Boys Are Here"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 19th April at 9 p.m. will feature a Centenary tribute to Nat D. Ayer and Clifford Grey's The Bing Boys Are Here, from the original 1916 London cast recordings starring Alfred Lester, George Robey and Violet Loraine, with Jack Morrison, Odette Myrtil and the Alhambra Theatre Orchestra conducted by John Ansell; plus additional and alternate versions of songs from the score recorded by the composer, Nat D. Ayer.

This will be preceded by an introduction to the musical (via Skype) from London-based musical theatre historian, archivist and author - Rex Bunnett.

The programme will conclude with an episode from the 1951 - 52 Melbourne 3DB radio series "With a Song in My Heart" devoted to the composer, Nat D. Ayer, narrated by John Morgan with performances by Max Blake, Eula Parker, Jack O'Hagan, Reg Cantwell, The Parkettes, Horrie Dargie's Quartet and the 3DB Radio Orchestra conducted by William Flynn.
