"Musical Theatre Melodies" - 23rd Dec - "Our Man Crichton"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 23rd December at 9 p.m. will feature a 50th Anniversary tribute to David Lee and Herbert Kretzmer's Our Man Crichton, (based on Sir James M. Barrie's classic Edwardian comedy The Admirable Crichton), from the original 1964 London cast recording starring Kenneth More and Millicent Martin with George Benson, David Kernan, Peter Honri, Dilys Watling, Anna Barry, Eunice Black, Glyn Worsnip and Patricia Lambert.

This will be preceded by an introduction to the musical, (via telephone from London), by British Musical Theatre historian, archivist and author - Rex Bunnett.

And will be followed by the 1940 HMV recordings of scenes and songs from Peter Pan, with Jean Forbes-Robertson, Dinah Sheridan, Gordon Harker, George Baker and Nancy Evans, (to mark the 110th Anniversary of Barrie's play), plus orchestral selections from Harry Parr-Davies score to Dear Miss Phoebe, (based on Barrie's 1902 comedy Quality Street), and Webster Booth's recording of the hit song from the musical, "I Leave My Heart In An English Country Garden".
