MUSICAL THEATRE MELODIES - 27th March - "Say, Darling" & "The Three Musketeers"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 27th March at 9 p.m. will feature a 60th anniversary tribute to Jule Styne, Betty Comden and Adolph Green's Say, Darling, (based on the novel by Richard Bissell), from the original 1958 Broadway cast recording starring David Wayne, Vivian Blaine and Johnny Desmond. with Jerome Cowan, Steve Condos and Mitchell Greg; plus additional songs from the score included on Lost Broadway and More - Vol. 5 - Comden, Green & Styne featuring Elizabeth Loyacano and Nyna Nelson.

The programme will conclude with a 90th anniversary tribute to Rudolf Friml, Clifford Grey and P.G. Wodehouse’s The Three Musketeers, (based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas), from a 1954 episode of the U.S. radio series "The Railroad Hour" starring Gordon MacRae and Dorothy Warenskjold, with Francis X. Bushman, Bill Conrad, Ted De Corsia, William Johnstone, Carlton Young and the Norman Luboff Choir; plus a recording by the star of the original 1928 Broadway and 1930 London productions - Dennis King with Adrienne Brune.
