"Musical Theatre Melodies" - 30th Dec - "House of Flowers"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 30th December at 9 p.m. will feature a 60th Anniversary tribute to Harold Arlen and Truman Capote's House of Flowers, (based on a short story by Truman Capote), from the original 1954 Broadway cast recording starring Pearl Bailey, Diahann Carroll, Juanita Hall, Rawn Spearman, Ada Moore, Enid Mosier, Dolores Harper and Miriam Burton.

This will be preceded by a 'live' telephone introduction to the musical from New York-based theatre critic and Internet columnist Peter Filichia.

And will be followed by a demo recording of Harold Arlen performing "A Sleepin' Bee" and an extract from "House of Flowers" read by Truman Capote; plus excerpts from Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg's Jamaica, from the original 1957 Broadway cast recording with Lena Horne, Ricardo Montalban, Josephine Premice, Joe Adams, Ossie Davis and Adelaide Hall.
