Musical Theatre Melodies - 5th April - "It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 5th April at 9 p.m. will feature a 50th Anniversary tribute to Charles Strouse and Lee Adams' It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman, (based on the comic strip Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster), from the original 1966 Broadway cast recording starring Bob Holiday and Jack Cassidy, with Michael O'Sullivan, Patricia Marand, Don Chastain and Linda Lavin; plus demo recordings of songs ultimately "cut" from the original score, as performed by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams.

This will be preceded by an introduction to the musical (via Skype) from New York-based theatre critic and Internet columnist - Peter Filichia.

And will be followed by an interview with Glenn Ferguson, the producer of Vic Theatre Company's current production of William Finn's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, playing at The Lawlor, Southbank Theatre in Melbourne until 10th April; (see )
