Musical Theatre Melodies - 8th December - "Anya"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 8th December at 9 p.m. will feature a 50th Anniversary tribute to Robert Wright and George Forrest's Anya, (based on the play Anastasia by Marcelle Maurette and Guy Bolton), using musical themes of Sergi Rachmaninoff, from the 1965 original Broadway cast recording starring Constance Towers, Michael Kermoyan, Lillian Gish and Irra Petina, with George S. Irving, Boris Aplon, Ed Steffe and John Michael King.

This will be preceded by a 'live' telephone introduction to the musical from New York-based theatre critic and Internet columnist - Peter Filichia.

The remainder of the broadcast will feature selections from Wright and Forrest's Song of Norway, (based on the life and music of Edvard Grieg), from the 1944 original Broadwaycast recording starring Lawrence Brooks, Helena Bliss, Robert Schafer, Sig Arno, Ivy Scott, Walter Kingsford, Gwen Jones, Kent Edwards and Kitty Carlisle.
