MUSICAL THEATRE MELODIES - 9th August - "So Long, 174th Street"

Rob Morrison's next "Musical Theatre Melodies" broadcast on Tuesday, 9th August at 9 p.m. will feature the first of "Three musicals that flopped" - Stan Daniels' So Long, 174th Street, (based on Joseph Stein's comedy Enter Laughing from the novel by Carl Reiner), from the 1980 recording starring original 1976 Broadway cast members, Robert Morse, Loni Ackerman, George S. Irving, Barbara Lang and Lawrence John Moss, together with Kaye Ballard, Patti Karr and Stan Daniels.

The remainder of the broadcast will feature a selection of songs from comic opera, musical comedy, revue, cabaret and variety celebrating the Acting profession, as sung by Noël Coward, Hermione Gingold, Cicely Courtneidge, Danny Kaye, Billy Bennett, Gracie Fields, Walter Catlett, Beverley Sills and Ethel Merman, amongst others.
